LEROY A. SHELTON, 46, of 124 Lincoln St., owner of Leroy's Auto Reconditioning and an assembler for General Motors, Framingham, Mass., for 2 0years before retiring in 1987 because of illness, died Wednesday at Landmark Medical Center-Woonsocket Unit. He was the husband of Elizabeth (Chaplin) Shelton.

Born in Blair, S.C., a son of the late Clarence Trapp and Nancy M. Shelton, he had moved to Woonsocket in 1961.

Mr. Shelton was an Army veteran of the Vietnam War. He was past president of the Woonsocket chapter of the NAACP. He was a member of Holy Cross Church of God in Christ, Providence.

Besides his wife he leaves three daughters, Michelina I. Shelton of Providence, Rochelle E. Shelton of Columbia, S.C., and Leigha A. Shelton of Woonsocket; two brothers, Sam Bell of Columbia and Kenneth Shelton in Georgia; three sisters, Janell Lorick, Patricia Banks and Debra Sims, all of Columbia; and two grandchildren.

The funeral will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at St. James Baptist Church, South Main Street. Burial will be in Union Cemetery.
