She was born on August 28, 1936 in Stokes County, the daughter of the late Marvin Hamilton Shives and Vassie Mae Marsh Shives.
Nancy graduated from Spencer High School in 1955. She retired from Fieldcrest-Cannon after 26 years. Nancy was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Salisbury, North Carolina. She loved her family, her church, and was an Atlanta Braves baseball fan.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a sister, Dorothy Woodruff.
Those left to cherish her memory are a brother, David Shives and wife, Sophie of Florida; a son, Darrell Shives and wife, Wilma of Concord; three daughters, Donna Agner and husband, Barry of Wendell, Dianne Motley and husband, Clyde of Salisbury, and Dawn Cain and husband, Randy of Rockwell; 14 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
The funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, March 24, at Calvary Baptist Church with Dr. Rick Cockerham and Pastor Roger Barker officiating. Burial will follow at Trading Ford Baptist Church Cemetery in Salisbury.
