Russell W. Slager, age 50, of 9832 Menchalville Road, Cato, died Tuesday morning, Jan. 14, 2003 at his residence the result of a barn fire.
Memorial services are scheduled for 1:30 p.m. Friday, Jan. 18, 2003 at St. John-St. James Evangelical Lutheran Church, 219 Manitowoc St., Reedsville. The Rev. Timothy Nommensen will officiate.
Russell was born Dec. 2, 1952 in Manitowoc, son of Robert and Ida Yohanek Slager. He was a 1971 graduate of Reedsville High School. Russell worked for the Brillion Iron Works as an inspector for the past 29 years and ran the family farm in Menchalville. Russell was a member of St. John-St. James Evangelical Lutheran Church, PACE International Union-Local Union No. 7-0475 and a past member of the town of Franklin Zoning Board. He enjoyed going to auctions, country music concerts and spending time with his family.
Survivors include his wife: Carol of Menchalville; four daughters: Amy of Aurora, Ill.; Julie, Sarah and Katie all at home; his parents: Robert and Ida Slager of Menchalville; one sister and brother-in-law: Irene and Jerry Dvorachek of New Holstein; niece: Cindy and Patrick Rowland and their son Hunter; nephew: Kevin Dvorachek; stepmother-in-law: Jeanette Eslinger of Mishicot; aunts and uncles include: Helen Yohanek of Kellnersville; Florence and William Decker of Kellnersville; Viola Stetson of Menchalville; Molly Opichka of Manitowoc; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Carol VanPrice of Arizona; Ken and Anne Basken of Illinois and their family; Mike and Patty Eslinger of Mishicot and their family; Ralph Eslinger of Green Bay; other relatives and many friends survive. He was preceded in death by his father-in-law: Lester Eslinger and one brother-in-law.
Relatives and friends may call at the church on Friday from 10 a.m. until the time of services at 1:30 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the St. John-St. James Endowment Fund.
The Reinbold & Pfeffer Family Funeral Home of Kellnersville, is serving the Slager family.
