Erma Maertz Haese, age 86, of the Manitowoc Health Care Center, formerly of
Reedsville, died Saturday, September 14, 1996, at the Health Care Center.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, September 17, 1996, at St.
John St. James Lutheran Church, Reedsville. Rev. David Kipfmiller will officiate
with burial in the parish cemetery.
She was born May 19, 1910, in Reedsville, daughter of the late Fred and Emilie
Engelbrecht Nicholaus. On June 7, 1934, she married Clarence Maertz at Reedsville.
He preceded her in death November 16, 1946. On August 20, 1966, she married Elmer
Haese and he preceded her in death January 2, 1994. She was a homemaker, a member
of St. John St. James Lutheran Church, Reedsville, and a member of the church
choir.
Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Marlene and Jerald Glaze, Appleton;
two sons and one daughter-in-law, Howard and Gertrude Maertz, La Crescent, Minn.,
Ronald Maertz, Rancho Cordova, Calif.; eight grandchildren, Laurel (John) Enstad,
Shirleen Maertz, David (Lynn) Maertz, Jonathan Maertz, Sherly Vanden Heuvel, Kerri
(Rick) Lorge, Pamela (Steven) Nickles, Randal (Traci) Glaze; 13 great-grandchildren.
Erma was preceded in death by her husbands, one infant daughter and one brother,
Herbert Nicholaus.
Friends may call at the Wieting Funeral Home, Reedsville, from 4-8 p.m. on Monday
and on Tuesday at the church from 9:30 a.m. until the hour of service.
