Nicholas Belden Japhet was born on April 30, 1951 in Houston, Texas to Gustav Daniel Japhet and Doris Adele Belden Japhet. He passed away on Tuesday, August 10, 2010 at Cypress-Fairbanks Medical Center Hospital from heart and breathing problems. Nick was a lifelong resident of Houston and a 1971 graduate of Lamar High School. During his work career he had various types of jobs, but his favorite was Hillman Distributing. Nick enjoyed the outdoors, reading the newspaper and trivia. He loved children and animals, especially our dogs and great-niece and nephew. We were planning a vacation in Florida with our great-niece and nephew, however, he was in the hospital at that time. Nick is survived by his wife of 27 years, Nancy Japhet; brothers, Daniel Japhet of Edmonds, Washington and Stephen Japhet of Jonesboro, Georgia and sister-in-law Sue Japhet of Jonesboro, Georgia and numerous nephews, nieces, great-nephews and great-nieces and a host of friends. He is preceded in death by his father and mother, Gustav Japhet and Doris Japhet. The family will receive friends on Friday, August 13, 2010 from 5 pm until 8pm at Cypress-Fairbanks Funeral Home in Houston. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 14, 2010 at 10:00 am in the Chapel of Cypress-Fairbanks Funeral Home with Dr.Charles Lawery officiating. Interment will follow at 1:30 pm at the Knobbs Springs Cemetery in McDade, Texas with Rev. Mark McBride officiating.
