John T. Griffin, Merchant and Former Mayor Dead
John T. Griffin, 66 years old, died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. F. B. Moreland, 216 Race Street at 3 o’clock, this morning.  Mr. Griffin was one of the oldest merchants in the city having conducted a meat and grocery business on Old Town Road for over forty years.  At one time he was prominent in politics, having been a member of the city council for six year, during fours years if which he was president of the body,  He also served as Mayor one year, filling the unexpired term of the late William M. McKaig, who resigned after being elected to Congress.  He is survived by his wife and six children as follows: Mrs. Andrew Buskey, Mrs. Joseph Mullen, Mrs. Patrick King, Mrs. Raymond Crane, Mrs. Frank Moreland and Joseph H. Griffin, former street superintendent.  The remains have been removed to the home of his daughter, Mrs. Patrick King, 10 Grand Avenue.  The funeral will take place at 9 o'clock Saturday morning from the St. Mary's Catholic Church.
