Alice was born to Samuel Rufus Brown and Era Alice Brent Brown on October 23, 1921 in Milburn, Kentucky. She professed her Faith to her Lord in 1934 and became a member of Antioch Church in Carlisle County, Kentucky. At the time of her death she was a member of St. Stephens UCC.

Alice married the late Frank M. McLain August 1, 1951 at Third Baptist Church in a ceremony performed Dr. C. Oscar Johnson.

She was the stepmother of Terry McLain and the late Joan M. McLain Koenig. She leaves six step-grandchildren, several great-step-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and a host of many friends.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her sister, Myra Holt Hagan and brother Rufus Cloys "Bud" Brown.

Alice was a career government employee, past president of the Recordettes and Toast Mistress Club, and opti-Mrs and was a member and past president of the North Side Optimist Club, and a volunteer for KMOX Radio's Call for Action program.
