St. Marys City Attorney Terry Floyd,57, who was also Camden County Juvenile Court Judge, died Monday morning in his sleep. He touched many lives through his work with the city and juvenile court.

Floyd was born to the late Roy and Kate Floyd of Jasper on Oct. 16, 1948. He was a resident of St. Marys for the last 19 years.

He graduated from Oxford College of Emory University in 1968 and Emory College in 1970 with a Bachelor of Arts in history and was a member of the Sigma Chi fraternity. He received his Juris Doctorate from the University of Georgia School of Law in 1973 and was admitted to the Georgia Bar Association in that same year.

Floyd has been a partner at the law firm of Smith & Floyd since 1985. He served as the juvenile court judge for Camden County since 1986, the St. Marys city attorney since 1990 and as a judge of Superior Court, pro hoc vice, for the Brunswick Judicial Circuit for several years.

Floyd is survived by his wife of 33 years, Nancy Tyre Floyd of St. Marys; son Nathan (Phoebe) Floyd of Dallas; and daughter, Catie Floyd and her boyfriend Scott McDermott of Atlanta.
