Arthur G. Moseman, 73, of South Sioux City, died Aug. 21, 1992, at his residence after a brief illness, just one day prior to the planned celebration of his 50th wedding anniversary. He was cremated with burial at Oakland Cemetery.

 

Mr. Moseman was born Sept. 5, 1918, at Oakland, son of John G. and Bertha A. (Hopp) Moseman. He attended Oakland High School and graduated from the University of Nebraska in 1941 with a bachelor's degree in science. He served in the U.S. Army from July 2, 1941, until Dec. 7, 1945. He married Mildred M. Nemechek Dec. 13, 1942 at El Reno, Okla.

 

He worked as a County Agricultural Extension Agent for Dakota County from Feb. 1, 1946, until illness forced his retirement in 1971. He received the Distinguished Service Award from the National Agricultural Agents Association in Miami in 1960, and served as president of Nebraska's Association in 1962. He helped to establish the Dakota County Soil Conservation District, the county Livestock Feeders Association, the Dakota-Dixon Dairy Breeders Association, the County Planning and Zoning Commission, the Dakota-Covington Rural Fire District, the Northeast Nebraska Experiment Station, the Rural Telephone Association and the South Sioux City Chamber of Commerce of which he was director of the from 1957-1960.

 

He was secretary of the Nebraska Brown Swiss Association. Mr. Moseman was Parade Marshall for the Dakota-Thurston County Fair in 1972 and received the Knights of Ak-Sar-Ben Good Neighbor Club Citation in 1970.

 

He was a member of the South Sioux City Kiwanis Club since 1946 and was president in 1962. He was Lt. Governor for Division 11 of the Nebraska-Iowa Kiwanis District during 1963 and was granted a Life Member status by Kiwanis International in 1978. He was also presented with the Legion of Honor Award and a special citation for outstanding service to youth by his local club.

 

He was a member of First Lutheran Church and served on the church council for six years. He assisted in sponsoring the Junior Luther League for 17 years. He and Mrs. Moseman traveled extensively and shared their experiences and slides with groups in the Siouxland area.

 

Survivors include his wife; two sons and their wives, Michael and Donna of Hibbing, Minn., and Lanny and Kathleen of Pittsburgh, Ill; three brothers, Dr. Albert Moseman of Somers, NY, LaVern Moseman of Oakland and Dr. John Moseman of Silver Springs, Md., and seven grandchildren, Heather, Laurel, Nate, Scott, James, Bynne, and John Moseman.
