HAXTUN, CO -- Funeral services were held Saturday, Nov. 28, 1987 for Josephine Steckman Ulmer in Immanuel Lutheran Church, Haxtun. Reverand (sic) Richard Howard officiated with burial following in the Haxtun Cemetery. Mrs. Ulmer died November 24 at Haxtun Hospital at the age of 77.
Josephine F. Ulmer, the daughter of Robert and Jennie Leetch Steckman, was born November 24, 1910 in Gregory County at Lucas, South Dakota.
She taught school at Butte, NE several years prior to her marriage to Edward Ulmer on December 23, 1940. After their marriage, they lived in South Dakota. Later they moved to York, NE where they lived until moving to Sutton. They farmed at Sutton and in 1966 moved to a farm south of Haxtun. In 1974, they moved to Haxtun.
Survivors include: her husband, Edward Ulmer, Haxtun; son Dennis Ulmer and wife Carol, Haxtun; two daughters Julie Ulmer Ham, Denver and Carol Ulmer Hernandez, Houston, TX; two sisters Mary Hignite and husband Claude, Sioux Falls, SD and Isabelle Siren, Gregory, SD; sisters-in-law Edith Steckman, Winner, SD, Nettie Steckman, Hermosa, SD and Vera Roth, Mountain Lake, MN; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; eight brothers and sisters.
Memorials may be given to the Good Shepherd Home.
