Foster's Daily Democrat (Dover, NH) - Sunday, October 25, 1998

NEEDHAM, Mass. - Albert A. Twombly died on Thursday, Oct. 22, 1998, at the Deaconess Glover Hospital in Needham.

Born in Laconia, N.H., he served in the U.S. Army, Infantry Regiment of the 407th, serving in Europe, France, Belgium and Germany during World War II.

He attended the University of New Hampshire from 1943-49 and earned his bachelor of science degree in electrical engineering.

For two years in the early 1950s, he worked in the Laconia Assessors Office and in 1952 he joined R.W. LeBaron in Waltham, Mass. This company designed and installed traffic systems in the New England area.

Ten years later in 1962, he was president of R.W. LeBaron and retired in 1997.

He was a member of the Wellesley Country Club and enjoyed golfing, travel, photography and crossword puzzles. He was also a member of the American Legion.

Husband of the late Gwendolyn (Cave) Twombly, he is survived by three children, Nancy E. Twombly of Needham, Peter A. Twombly of Shelburne, Vt., and Matthew A. Twombly of Park City, Utah.

He is also survived by his grandchildren, Zachary, Harry, Emma and Alex, and one sister, Priscilla Nadon of Laconia, and two brothers Arthur Twombly of Indian Orchard and Robert Twombly of Milford, N.H.

Funeral Services will be held at First Baptist Church Chapel, 858 Great Plains Ave., Needham on Tuesday at 11 a.m., followed by burial with his wife at the Bourne National Cemetery at 2:30 p.m.

Visiting hours will be held from the Eaton Funeral Home of Needham on Monday from 7 to 9 p.m.
