Aberdeen - Funeral service for Esther R. Adrion, 98, Aberdeen, will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 3, 2005, at Schriver's Memorial Mortuary & Crematory, 414 5th Ave. N.W., with Father Gregory Tschakert officiating. Burial will be at Sacred Heart Cemetery. A liturgical wake service will be 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 2, 2005, at the mortuary. Visitation is 3 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, and 8 to 10:30 a.m. Thursday, all at the mortuary. There will be a lunch and time for fellowship following the burial at Schriver's Memorial Fellowship Center. Esther passed away Sunday, Jan. 29, 2005, at Avera Mother Joseph Manor. Esther R. Adrion was born on Valentine's Day, Feb. 14, 1906, in Kendall, Wis., to George and Clara (Felker) Adrion. At the age of 5, Esther moved with her parents, brother and sister to McIntosh, S.D. Esther's younger sister, Winifred E. (Adrion) Kersten was born in McIntosh. After graduating from McIntosh High School, Esther attended Winona State and St. Teresa's College in Minnesota. She then worked as a secretary/stenographer in Minneapolis, Minn., for 36 years. In 1961, Esther moved to Aberdeen to provide care for her mother. Esther has worked and lived in Aberdeen since that time. Esther was a member of St. Mary's Parish and the Altar Society ever since she had moved to Aberdeen. She enjoyed spending time with her nieces and nephews, playing cards with friends, and baking sugar cookies. Esther was a very devoted Catholic, displayed a positive outlook on life, loved the outdoors, and was exceptionally generous. Grateful for having shared her life are her two nieces and two nephews and their spouses, Kathy and Mike Coulter, Sioux Falls; Jim and Sue Kersten, Sioux Falls; John and Sandy Kersten, Aberdeen; and Mary Ellen Kersten, Boise, Idaho; and five grand-nieces and nephews, Kersten (Coulter) and Randy Dobberpuhl, Parker, Ariz.; Justin Coulter, Sioux Falls; John Coulter, Mankato, Minn.; Seth Kersten, Sioux Falls; and Mollie Kersten, Sioux Falls. Esther was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Charles Adrion and two sisters, Dorothy Adrion and Winifred Kersten. Blessed Be Her Memory.
