Bobby, who as an adult became known as "Bob", was well liked throughout his school years. He was always smiling, playful and charming. This very handsome youngster enjoyed playing both basketball and baseball for Earlington High School, Earlington, KY. In 1955 EHS yearbook, The Tropaion, he was designated as the "Sophomore Sweetheart." He proudly graduated from high school in May of 1957.
As a youth, he had a great love or like for automobiles and it was no surprise to his friends that he would become an employee of the Ford Company, ultimately to become a foreman. He remained with them until he retired. A Kentuckian he was born and a Kentuckian he would remain. He became a "Kentucky Colonel" a cherished title.
After retirement, he maintained a large network with his friends throughout the Country using emails as his contact; and he would talk to folks, both present and past, attend EHS events. His love and passion for his family was ever obvious and never ending. His love for his friends lived forever and continues to live.
When his emails began to slow down, it became clear something was not as it had been. On Sunday July 8, 2012, at Baptist Hospital East in Louisville, at the age of 74 years he took his last earth's breath and passed over.
He was survived by his beloved wife of 47 years, Connie Harvey; three children, Bob Harvey of Orlando, Fla., Jonathan Harvey of Louisville, Michelle Hutcherson of Chickamauga, Ga.; and four grandchildren.
His funeral took place in Earlington at Reid-Walters Funeral Home. His earthly body was laid to rest at Old Salem Cemetery in nearby Mortons Gap, KY.
