Melissa C. Hammond Parrish went to be with her Lord and Savior Friday, March 14, 2014 after a 28 year battle with multiple sclerosis.

She was predeceased by husband Mark E. Parrish, Grandparents Bessie and Hugh Freeman and Ada and B. P. Hammond.

Melissa is survived by parents Charles and Christine Hammond, sister and brother-in-law Toni and Kennie Harris, Niece and Nephew Brihanna and Bryson Harris, Aunt Madalone Hammond Smith, beloved little companion PJ, numerous cousins and special friend Gwen Harris.

She was a graduate of William Byrd High School and South Eastern Academy in Kissimmee, Florida and a member of Riverdale Baptist Church.

The family would like to give a special thank you to Carilion Palliative care team on 10 South and Carilion Home Health Nursing Staff.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Blue Ridge MS Society, or the Roanoke Valley SPCA.

A memorial service will be held at 12 noon, Tuesday, March 25, 2014 at Riverside Baptist Church, 1624 Edgerton Ave., Roanoke with Rev. David Jones officiating.
