US Congressman. Born in Chicago, Illinois, after he graduated from Christian Brothers' Commercial Academy, he engaged in mercantile pursuits. Involved the City of Chicago affairs, he served as permit clerk of the department of public works (1893-97), deputy city gas inspector (1897-1910), a member of the Chicago Board of Aldermen (1910-12), chief deputy criminal court clerk (1912-18) and manager of the State personal property tax collection department, (1918-23). In 1923, he was elected as a Democrat to the Sixty-eighth Congress, serving until 1925. An unsuccessful candidate for reelection, he was hired as vice president of the Universal Granite Quarries and was serving as chief drain inspector at the time of his death at age 74 in Chicago, Illinois.
