He is son of Shadrach Greear and Elizabeth Wallen Greear who moved to the Clinch Valley in the 1830s from Grayson County, Virginia. I had the privildege of visiting with my great aunt Maude Kern (the only living relative in her generation, she's 87) and she gave me a photo of the old Isaac Winfield Flanary homeplace in Scott County, VA.
It is my understanding that they are naming the old family cemetery near Wood after him.
He gave the home to his daughter Safronia and her husband Emit Walker Greear.
Aunt Maude lived there as a young girl."
