Services for James R. Young, 79, of Newville, will be held at 2 p.m. Monday in Big Springs Presbyterian Church, Corporation Street, Newville.

He died Friday, Oct. 23, 1998 at Swaim Health Center, Newville.

He was born June 8, 1919 in Everett, son of the late Clarence H. and Valencia (Crawford) [McFarland] Young.

He was a veteran of World War II serving with the U.S. Marines. He retired from Atlantic Richfield Company as a Terminal Operator. He was a member of VFW Post 6070 of Newville, Friendship Hose Co. #1, Newville Founder and Coach of the Little League, Newville.

He was preceded in death by his wife Charotte Arlene Fletcher; and three sisters, Fay Richey, Catherine and Elizabeth Lovitch.

He was survived by two daughters, Virginia Jean Fickes and Vicki Lee Highlands, both of Newville; a son, Gregory J., also of Newville; one sister Eunice Petris of Gillette; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Burial was made in Big Spring Presbyterian Church Cemetery.

The Egger Funeral Home, Newville was in charge of arrangements.
