Carolyn Ann Calhoun Stockton, 63, passed away in Charlotte, NC, Sunday March 16, 2014, after a three-year battle with cancer.

She was born in Fort Worth, TX, on April 10, 1950, and later moved to Jacksonville Beach, FL, where she graduated from Fletcher High School in 1968. Carolyn moved to Lakeland with her family in 1980. She received her Bachelor's degree from the University of South Florida and taught middle and high school for 10 years, and later worked for State Farm. She is survived by her daughters, Tracy Stockton Loescher of Roswell, GA, Andrea Stockton Schwartz of Los Angeles, CA, Laura Ann Stockton of Los Angeles, CA, her son Brantley Waldo Stockton of Charlotte, NC, and her six grandchildren.

Carolyn was a long-time member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Family and friends were extremely important to her, and she always made herself available anytime someone needed her. This holds very true for her grandchildren who knew her as "Grams." She didn't let cancer slow her down, and especially cherished the time with all of her family at "Beach Week" every summer.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, March 22, 2014, at 4 p.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 5850 Lakeland Highlands Rd., Lakeland, FL 33813. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in memory of Carolyn Stockton to the educational non-profit organization Take Stock in Children at

Do not stand at my grave and weep,
I am not there - I do not sleep.
I am the thousand winds that blow,
I am the diamond glints in snow,
I am the sunlight on ripened grain,
I am the gentle autumn rain.
As you awake with morning's hush
I am the swift-up-flinging rush
Of quiet birds in circling flight.
Do not stand at my grave and cry,
I am not there - I did not die.
