Lena was ill for the final 9 months of her life. She died 4 days before what would have been her 84th birthday.
She was survived by 4 daughters, Catherine Martin of Spanish Park, Utah, Valadia Mackereth of Mendenhall, Pennsylvania, Willa Schickling of Godfrey, Illinois, and Carol Walther of Grafton; 2 sons, Thomas Womack and Romie Womack, both of Grafton; 20 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and 2 sisters, Lela Pierson and Floella Holmes, both of Jackson, Michigan.
In addition to her parents, Lena was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas; and a daughter who died in early childhood.
Visitation was held at Gent Funeral Home in Alton, Illinois on 04 Jun 1973. Funeral services were conducted at 10 a.m. the following morning at Faith Lutheran Church.
Lena was buried next to her husband, Thomas, who passed away in 1947.
