Tom Fleming was born on Hurricane Island to John (McGrath) Fleming and Helen Jones Fleming. He was a communicant of Saint Bernard's Roman Catholic Church for many years. He also was a member of the Limerock Council of The Knights of Columbus. He was a WWI veteran. He enjoyed playing the clarinet and directed the former Rockland City Band for 15 years. He had a great sense of humor. When he was young he would pretend to spit on the dessert so he could have it all.
His profession was upholsterer, which he worked at well past age seventy in a shop at his home. He found coins and many small objects under the cushions. His widow the former Nora Evelyn Davis is not buried with him as she remarried to Mr. Raymond. Thomas had no children, but he enjoyed his nieces and their children.
