Sarah Kay Bass passed away peacefully March 20, at the age of 94. She was born June 23, 1919 in Greenville, SC to Bessie Young Kay and Paul Carter Kay.

Sarah spent most of her life in Marietta, Georgia. She was a graduate of Marietta High School Class of 1936 where she excelled in debating. She was also a graduate of Southern Business College of Atlanta and after graduation worked for the Chalker Lund Company which was involved in building Bell Bomber Plant (now Lockheed) for production of World War II aircraft. There she met Neil Wade Bass of Kissimmee, Florida. They were married in 1942 and lived in Marietta until his death in 1978. In 2007 Sarah moved to Carrollton, Georgia to be near her youngest son Paul. In addition to her loving parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her sister Evelyn Meyer.

She was a devoted Christian, and was engaged in the cross-cultural learning programs at the First Baptist Church of Marietta where she was a member from the age of 13 (Phoebean Class). Her teaching specialty was English for non-English speaking wives of foreign military, training at Lockheed. Her friends joke that there are military wives all over the world speaking English with a southern accent.

She is survived by her daughter Kay Ronveaux and her husband Ric of Amelia Island, FL, sons Neil Bass and his wife Kathy of Sarasota, FL, and Paul Bass and his wife Kathy of Carrollton, GA; grandchildren Thomas Bass of Bozeman, MT, Melissa Bass Brown of Erzenhausen, Germany, and Bailey Bass Davis of Denver, CO; nephew David Meyer of Powder Springs, GA; great grandchildren Emma Brown, Sam Bass and Amelia Fountain and many loving nephews and nieces.

The family is grateful to the staff of Horizon Bay Assisted Living, Halcyon Home Care, and Tanner Medical Center for the loving care they provided to Sarah during her last days.

Graveside services were held at Kennesaw Memorial Park in Marietta, GA. She was laid to rest beside her husband, Neil Sr. following the service. In lieu of flowers or memorial donations, the family respectfully asks you to share a special moment with someone you love in honor of Sarah.
