Austin served as a Technician Forth Grade, Battery A, 472nd Anti-Aircraft Artillery, U.S. Army during World War II.

He resided in Grafton County, New Hampshire prior to the war.

He enlisted in the Army on December 29, 1942 in Manchester, New Hampshire. He was noted as being employed as a Financial institution clerk and also as Married.

Austin died in the "Line Of Duty" of burns received at Clark Field, Luzon in a non-battle related incident during the war.
