Composer, Actor. When not composing, he wrote comedies & dramas & starred in movies. He was considered one of the most handsome leads in silent movies. The lilac bush planted as a memorial to Ivor Novello. The words "Till you are home once more" (a paraphrase of the last line of his politically stirring "Keep the Home Fires Burning--1914) appear on the plaque in front of the bush. That song was the first hit for the classically trained Novello.

Inscription

You mentioned that the line "till you are home again" reverses to the song 'keep the home fire burning' but is in fact the song "we'll gather lilacs', although 'till'is actually 'when'
