Sterling K. Leese
SPRING GROVE - Sterling K. Leese, 73, of Spring Grove, died at 4:18 p.m. Wednesday at his home. He was the husband of Gladys J. (Loose) Leese, to whom he was married for 48 years.
The service will be 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Peter's (Lischey's) United Church of Christ, Spring Grove RD 5. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Viewings will be 6 to 9 p.m. Friday at the Sauter-Irwin Funeral Home, 175 N. Main St., Spring Grove, and 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the church.
Mr. Leese was born Feb. 11, 1923, in North Codorus Township. He was the son of the late Holman D. and Abbie (Kaltreider) Leese.
He worked for All Star Chevrolet in Spring Grove since 1946 and was Chevrolet Co. USA's most senior employee. He was a member of St. Peter's (Lischey's) United Church of Christ, where he was a consistory member, served on its cemetery board, and was Sunday School teacher and treasurer for 35 years. A troop committee chairman for 31 years for Boy Scout Troop 30, he was a life member of Friendship Hose Company and an ambulance crew member for 29 years, where he received the Phoenix Award. He was Spring Grove Lions Club 1990 Citizen of the Year, a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and member of Post 5265 Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Mr. Leese also is survived by a son, Ronald E. Leese of Spring Grove RD 5; two grandchildren; a brother, Lester L. Leese of Brodbecks RD 1; and three sisters, Bertha N. Wright of Dayton, Ohio, Beatrice A. Kiser of Glenville and Dorothy P. Leese of Spring Grove.
Officiating at the service will be his interim pastor, the Rev. Robert M. Myers.
