Pasquale Santaniello
1934 - 2014
Springfield
Pasquale Santaniello, 79, ascended into heaven peacefully on Saturday, March 15, 2014 surrounded by his children and grandchildren. Born in Quindici, Italy on October 18, 1934, he was the son of Salvatore and Candida Santaniello. He immigrated to Springfield in 1955 and lived there until he passed away. Pasquale worked hard his entire life; he worked for Carando, Inc. for 25 years, and later worked for STCC for 10 years until his retirement in 2003. During that time, he also had an integral part in running the family pizza restaurant. Pasquale was a devoted husband, a caring father, and an incredibly loving grandfather. He was a true lover of nature and animals; one would always find him tending to his garden or going on long walks in Forest Park with his grandchildren and family pets. Pasquale's beautiful singing voice always brought joy to those around him, along with his quick and witty sense of humor. Pasquale loved to play Italian card games with anyone who was willing to join him. Known as "Mr. Fix It," he demonstrated a mastery of repair skills, and never hesitated to help anyone in need. His contagious smile brightened anyone's day. Pasquale's beloved wife, Elena (Bruno), predeceased him in 2007. He is survived by his daughters, Gina Viega and her husband John of Ellington, CT; Ann Marie Altomonte and her husband John of Agawam; Dora McGuill and her husband Dan of East Longmeadow; and his son John of Springfield. He leaves behind ten grandchildren: Justina, James, Michael, Caron, Anthony, Victor, Danny Jr., Isabella, Dominic, and Kelsey, who were all the light of his life. He also leaves behind a brother, Carmine of Springfield. The private funeral was held on Friday, March 21 at Tazzini Funeral Home with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church in Springfield. Entombment was at St. Michael's Cemetery Mausoleum in Springfield.
