Alfred James "Jim" Davis
June 26, 1929 - April 16, 2010 Alfred James “Jim” Davis Jr. 80 of Richmond died April 16, 2010 at his home after a year long illness. He was born June 26, 1929 in Knightsville to Alfred J and Katheryn Holden Davis Sr. and lived in Richmond since 1950.

Jim was a General Life Insurance Agent for Aviva Insurance Company formerly Indianapolis Life Insurance since 1960, until his retirement this April. During his career Jim was very involved in many professional organizations and held the designations of C.L.U., L.U.T.C.F., and Ch F.C. He was also an Army veteran.

Jim was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, where he served as the Financial Chairman for the Parish Council, and an usher. He was a member of the Richmond Lions Club and was a Melvin Jones Fellow recipient. He was board member of the Richmond Area Life Underwriters Association, receiving the Distinguished Service Award; and a member of the National Association of Life Underwriters. He was a former board member and President of the Richmond Y.M.C.A., receiving the Distinguished Service Award and Martin Snyder Award. He was also a member of the American Legion, Richmond Wayne County Area Chamber of Commerce, and Golden Key Society.

Survivors include his wife Betty Edwards Davis, who he married June 7, 1952; two children Brad (Peggy) Davis of Fishers, and Jamie Smith of Richmond, and two grandchildren Kyle and Kara Davis. He is preceded in death by his parents.

Liturgy of Christian Burial will be 2:30 PM Tuesday April 20, 2010 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, with Rev. Todd Riebe officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery. Friends may call 5-8 PM Monday at Stegall-Berheide-Orr Funeral Home.
