OBITUARY:

Seldon Wesley French was born in Tompkins county, New York on July 11, 1848. At the age of 23 he came to Kansas and took a homestead in Holland township and engaged in farming until 1880, then started a general store and continued in this business until 1894. He then sold out and moved onto the Cornell ranch and has been there continuously for 35 years. He was 80 years, 7 months and one day old. He leaves to mourn their loss, George French of Salina, Mrs. E. J. Jasper of Peabody, and T.E. French of Carlton, besides 11 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and a host of friends.Funeral services were held Saturday, February 16 at the Baptist church of Carlton, Rev. R.O. Taylor of Enterprise assisted by Rev. Sherman, pastor of the Carlton Baptist church, conductedthe service. Burial was made in the Fairview cemetery.
