THEARON E. FRENCH
Thearon E., second son of Seldon and Lorena French, was born on a farm one mile east of Carlton, Kansas, in the year 1883. At the age of six years he moved with his parents to the "Cornell Ranch," at Carlton and remained there for 49 years. At the age of 19 years he was united in marriage with Gladys Ida Hamilton of Carlton, and one son and four daughters were born: Glenn of Abilene, Lorena Worman of Enid, Oklahoma, Alice Egbert of El Paso, Texas, Evelyn Jones of Abilene, and Eva Bogart of Carlton. All of whom with his widow survive. There are 16 grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. He is also survived by one brother George, and one sister, Pearl, both living in California. About eight years ago, he moved to Abilene, where he resided until the time of his death, at his home on 317 1/2 N. Spruce street, September 4, 1948.Funeral services were held from the Carlton Baptist church, Tuesday afternoon September 7, at 2 o'clock. Dr. David Townley, pastor of the Abilene Presbyterian church, conducted the service, and was assisted by the Rev. C.V. Overman, pastor of the Carlton Baptist church. Music was furnished by a mixed quartet, comprised of Mrs. George Zink, Mrs. James Carney, John Nagely and Tom Sterling. They sang, "When Ring the Golden Bells", "Beautiful Garden of Prayer" and "Rock of Ages." Mrs. C.V. Overman was at the piano. The pall bearers were: Jess Meyers, Roy Phillips, Gene Mamfield, Will Boyce, Robert Boyce and Grover McAdams. Interment was in the Fairview cemetery.
