Nathan Eldon "Nate" Baker, resident of the Rossville Community, former resident of Collierville and professional musician, departed this life Friday afternoon, March 7, 2014 at his residence. He was 25 years of age.
Services of Remembrance for Nate were conducted at 1 P.M. Friday, March 14th at the Country Bible Church in Blair, Nebraska. Interment followed in the Forest Lawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Omaha, Nebraska.
A Memorial Service for Nate will be conducted at 11 A.M. Saturday, March 22nd at the Pinecrest Conference Center in Moscow. The English Garden will be the provider for floral memorials. Arrangements will be provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes and Cremation Center — Main Chapel of Somerville.
Nate was born November 29, 1988 in Denver, Colorado, the son of William J. Baker, Jr. and JoLynn Kay Schelske Baker. He moved with his family at an early age to Tennessee and received his education in the Shelby County Public School System. He was a graduate of Gateway Home School in May of 2007 and attended the University of Memphis where he received a music scholarship and majored in Classical Bass Performance.
Nate was Lutheran in faith. He lived a robust life and his passions included composing and performing music, animals, nature, cooking and camping. Special times with his friends was a favorite pastime.
Nate is survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. William J. Baker, Jr. of Rossville; his sister, Melinda Christensen (Chip) of Springfield, Nebraska; two brothers, C.J. Passmore (Ashley) of Olive Branch, Mississippi, William J. Baker, III (Rebecca) of Fayetteville, Arkansas; his maternal grandmother, Beatrice Schelske of Scotland, South Dakota; two nieces, Lexi Christensen of Omaha, Nebraska, Bailey June Passmore of Olive Branch, Mississippi; three nephews, Ty, Grant and Jed Christensen of Omaha, Nebraska; his uncle, Randy Schelske (Peg) of Olivet, South Dakota; four aunts, Lonna Miller (Deono) of Mitchell, South Dakota, Julie Hayes (Scott) of Blair, Nebraska, Sandra Kay Bartholow (Paul) of St. Louis Park, Minnesota, Debye Baker-Schelm (Dean) of Omaha, Nebraska; and sixteen cousins.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, William and Gwen Baker and Eldon Schelske; and his aunt, Jeanie Carstens.
