TRENTON -- John Joseph Colling, 76, formerly of rural McCook, died Wednesday (Dec. 7, 2005) at the ElDorado Manor in Trenton.

He was born April 9, 1929, in McCook to Bernard N. and Helen (Kennedy) Colling. He attended school through eighth grade.

He entered the U.S. Navy in 1951 and served during the Korean Conflict. He was honorably discharged in 1954.

He farmed and raised cattle in the McCook area.

He was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus.

He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Harlan, Jerald, Frank and Gene; sister, Helen; and two brothers-in-law, Anton and Raymond.

Survivors include brothers, Richard Colling and wife, Alfreda of McCook, George Colling of Cambridge and Joseph and wife, Eileen Colling of McCook; sisters, Catherine Blume of McCook and Bernadine Ritter of Russell, Kan.

Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday, 10:30 a.m., at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in McCook with the Rev. Gary Brethour officiating. Interment will be in the Calvary Cemetery.

Rosary will be Sunday, 6 p.m., at Carpenter Breland Chapel in McCook. Visitation will be Saturday, 9 a.m.-noon, and Sunday, 4 p.m., at Carpenter Breland Funeral Home.
