Finley, Gary A. 10/05/1942 ~ 03/07/2014 SANTEE -- Gary "Skip" Finley born in Wayne, MI, to Lester and Dorothy Finley, lived in the San Diego County area for part of his childhood and for most of his adult life. Gary was preceded in death by his parents, his younger brother, Richard Finley, and his stepdaughter, Joanne Ravanelli. He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Jackie, his stepchildren LaQuina McElroy, Toyce Phillips, Tony, Lisa Abbott, 8 grandchildren, sisters Leslie Price, Pat Bushey, nieces Adria and Cristine, nephew Andrew, cousins Tom, Judy, Roxanne, Linda, Dale, Eleanor, and many more. Gary entered the USMC out of high school, served as an airplane mechanic and was honorably discharged as a Corporal, in 1964. Throughout his life, Gary enjoyed getting to know people. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, sharing the garden harvest with everyone, cooking, barbecuing, traveling, and having philosophical and political discussions. He had a quick wit, a twinkle in his eyes, and a wry smile...Family was very important to Gary. For much of his life, he worked as a machinist, working for Teledyne- Ryan (Aeronautical) most recently. Gary was greatly loved and will be deeply missed. Military Honors will be at Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery, on March 24, 2014, 10 a.m.
