Evelyn M. Kiernan, age 68, of 15826 County Trunk XX, Kiel, died Tuesday
morning, April 21, 1992, at her home following a lengthy illness.
She is the former Evelyn Luedtke, born June 3, 1923 in the town of
Rantoul, Calumet County. Daughter of the late Henry and Clara Hinz
Luedtke. She attended St. John-St. James Parochial School in Reedsville.
On June 21, 1941, she married Charles Kiernan, at St. John-St. James
Lutheran Church, Reedsville. The couple celebrated their 50th wedding
anniversary in 1991. She was employed for approximately five years at
the Leverenz Shoe Company, Valders. She was a member of Zion Evangelical
Lutheran Church, Louis Corners, the Ladies Aid, and the Plainview
Homemakers, town of Cato.
Survivors include her husband, Charles; one son Charles D., at home; two
daughters, Charlotte and Richard Zahrobsky of Ada, and Virginia and
Ronald Broehm of rural Reedsville; 10 grandchildren, nine great
grandchildren; one brother Merlin and Germaine Luedtke of Cato. She was
preceded in death by one son Randolph.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday, at Zion Evangelical
Lutheran Church, Louis Corners, with the Rev. James Bartz, Pastor,
officiating. Burial will be in the St. Johns-St. James Cemetery, Reedsville.
Friends may call at the Meiselwitz Funeral Home, Kiel from 4-9 p.m.
Thursday, and at the church Friday from 10 a.m. until the time of
services. A memorial has been established in her name.
