Son of Oscar F. Butman & Nellie Bell Beaton Butman.

Husband of Arlene L. Caldwell Butman whom he married on September 2, 1943 in Manchester, New Hampshire. She was the daughter of Quincy John Caldwell & Mary Adams Caldwell.

Frank served as a Staff Sergeant & Top Turret Gunner on B-17G #42-32007, 545th Bomber Squadron, 384th Bomber Group, U.S. Army Air Force during World War II.

He resided in Grafton County, New Hampshire prior to the war.

He enlisted in the Army on September 2, 1942 in Manchester, New Hampshire. He was noted, at the time of his enlistment, as being employed as a Barber and also as Single, without dependents.

Frank was "Killed In Action" when his B-17 crashed North of Charleroi, Belgium during the war.

He was awarded the Purple Heart.

He is interred somewhere in New Hampshire.

The rest of the crew of the B-17 all bailed out.
