Philip served as a Private First Class, Company G, 172nd Infantry, 43rd Infantry Division, U.S. Army during World War II.

He resided in Grafton County, New Hampshire prior to the war.

He enlisted in the New Hampshire National Guard on February 24, 1941 prior to the war. He was noted, at the time of his enlistment, as being employed in the manufacture of textiles and also as Single, without dependents.

Philip "Died of Wounds" received in action during the war and was awarded the Purple Heart.
