Arthur Carl Harper, son of Arthur Ervin and Della Ann Ezard Harper, was born, February 28, 1936 on Dry Ridge in Camden County, Missouri. He departed this life, Wednesday, March 19, 2014, in Mercy Hospital, Springfield, Missouri at the age of seventy-eight years and nineteen days.

On September 18, 1954 in Linn Creek Methodist Church, he was united in marriage to Carol Yvonne Percival and to this union two children were born. Together they shared fifty-nine years of marriage.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Hazel A. Harper and Freida C. Harper.

He is survived by his wife, Carol Harper of Camdenton, Missouri; a son, Darren Harper and wife Dana of Camdenton, Missouri; a daughter, Jayna Harper of Ozark, Missouri; two sisters, Edyth Norman of Lebanon, Missouri and Maxine Miller of Bendena, Kansas and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

As a sophomore in high school, Carl was a member of the Ha Ha Tonka 4 H Club and raised registered Jersey cattle. He graduated from Camdenton High School in 1953. He graduated from Reisch American School of Auctioneering in Mason City, Iowa in 1967. His lifelong pursuits included membership in the Republican Party and served as the chairman of the central committee around 1972. He has been a member of Farm Bureau and served on the board for many years. He has been an active volunteer with the Camdenton Senior Center.

Carl's heart belonged in Camden County. While he lived most of his life in Camdenton he spent two years working for a Chevrolet Dealership in the parts department in Lawrence, Kansas and Grandview, Missouri. Carl would start each day with a cup of coffee, walking with his dog Willie and reading his Bible. He is known for his infamous smile and laugh, his strong handshake and love of telling a good story. He always had the time to lend a helping hand or give a word of advice. He was most proud of his family, being a father and husband, lifelong friendships and his job as deputy sheriff. He retired from Electrovert after twenty-two years of service. His ultimate love was listening to and jig dancing to Bluegrass music.

Arthur made a profession of faith, was baptized, June 13, 1971 and has been a long time member of the South Five Church of Christ in Lebanon.

He was a loving husband, father, brother and uncle and a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate his life and his accomplishments and will treasure the memories he created for his family and friends.

Memorial donations may be made to Camdenton Senior Citizen Center or Fair Haven Children's Home in lieu of flowers and left at the funeral home.
