Sarah J. (Sally) (Porter) Griffith, age 97, of DeWitt, MO passed away Tuesday, March 18, 2014 at Carroll County Memorial Hospital.

Sally was born September 7, 1916 to Thornton and Jane Gillham Porter in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. On November 15, 1939, she married the love of her life, Paul at DeWitt Methodist Church in DeWitt, MO. To this union they were blessed with three children, Paul, Daniel, and Dale.

Sally graduated from high school in Seattle, Washington. She was a very gifted and talented woman who had many hobbies which included; her love of painting, weaving, spinning, rock polishing, and jewelry making. She was a housewife who enjoyed being involved in her family's life and activities. Sally shared her talents with many by teaching painting classes and by being a 4-H Leader. She attended the DeWitt Methodist Church in Dewitt, MO, and the Assembly of God Church in Carrollton, MO, where she was a Sunday School Teacher. Sally was a member of the Peavine Extension Club, Carroll County Historical Society (she was one of the original founders), and the Weaver's Guild. She was well known for her generosity, kindness and her lovely smile. She will be greatly missed by all of her family and friends.

Sally is survived by her three sons: Paul David Griffith and wife Cherry, of Duluth, GA, Daniel Thornton Griffith, of DeWitt, MO, and Dale Griffith and wife Jean, of DeWitt, MO; six grandchildren: Brett Griffith, Amber Hodgson, Joseph Griffith, April Bedford, Matthew Griffith, and Adam Griffith; several grand and step- grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter.

Sally was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Paul, on January 2, 1995, and one daughter, Mary, in infancy.

Visitation will be held Saturday, March 22, 2014 from 9:00 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. at the Assembly of God Church in Carrollton, MO.

Funeral Services for Sally will follow visitation at 11:00 a.m. at the Assembly of God Church in Carrollton, MO, with Pastor Ray Todd officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, DeWitt, MO.
