~~Fred Henry Brewer, 83, of Mt. Carmel, Illinois passed away Thursday, March 13, 2014 at Oakview Heights surrounded by his family.

Fred was born February 24, 1931 in Crossville, Illinois. He was the son of Ronald Thomas and Bertha Gillhan Brewer. He married Elizabeth "Betty" Curtis on September 9, 1951 in Albion, Illinois.

Fred proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. He worked at Wabash General Hospital as a lab tech. He then went to work for Bristol Meyers Squibb in pharmacy sales, retiring after 25 years. Fred was a member of the Christian Church in Berryville. He was a Cub Scout leader, a member of the VFW, Elks and an inner city league football coach. He enjoyed woodworking, boating and watching Mt. Carmel High School football.

Surviving are his wife; daughters, Linda Susan (Thomas) White of Palm Bay, Florida and Teresa Kay (Rick) Kissen of Bridgeport, Illinois; sons, Thomas Allen (Carolyn) Brewer, Mark Curtis Brewer and Brad Jay Brewer of Mt. Carmel, Illinois; grandchildren, Scott Brewer, Megan White, Michael Brewer, Kimberly Brewer and Adam White; sister, Barbara Golladay and a brother, Max Ronald Brewer and five great-grandchildren.

Preceding him in death was his parents and twin granddaughters.

Funeral services will be held Monday, March 17, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Short Funeral Home with visitation from 5:00 until 7:00 on Sunday March 16, 2014. Burial will be in Highland Memorial Cemetery.
