Former Resident Killed In Hunting Accident
Funeral services were held Wednesday, December 2, in the St. Anthony Third-Four LDS Ward Chapel for Carl DeLoy LeCheminant, 25, who was killed Saturday, November 28, 1970, in a hunting accident in the Sage Valley area of Caribou County the Idaho-Wyoming border.
According to Caribou County Sheriff Ralph Marriott who investigated the accident, Mr. LeCheminant was hit in the back of the head by a bullet fired by another hunter in his hunting party, as the group was firing at a deer.
Mr. LeCheminant was hunting with his brothers, Stanley LeCheminant of St. Anthony and Darwin LeCheminant of Chester and Dennis Brown of St. Anthony and Calvin Dayton of Boise.
Carl was born in St. Anthony, September 12, 1945, son of Jack C. and Dawna Dayton LeCheminant.
He attended school in Idaho Falls until he was in the fifth grade when his parents returned to St. Anthony where he completed his education and graduated from South Fremont High School.
He attended Rick College for one semester before fulfilling a mission in New Zealand for the LDS Church.
After returning from his mission, he completed his education at Ricks and was employed by Parts Service in St. Anthony for sometime. For the past year he has been employed at the Dana Farm Service in Thayne, Wyoming.
He was an Elder in the LDS Church and had served in various positions including Superintendent of the YMMIA and dance direction.
He was married to Linda Lei Sibbett in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple June 15, 1967.
He leaves his wife and 2 daughters, Carlinda Lei and Kalani LeCheminant, all of Thayne, Wyoming; his mother, Mrs. Dawna LeCheminant of Twin Groves; and the following brothers and sisters: Darwin Jack LeCheminant and Floyd LeCheminant, both of Chester; Stanley LeCheminant, David R. LeCheminant and Toni LeCheminant, all of Twin Groves, Boyd LeCheminant, who is in Vietnam with the U. S. Army and Vicky Bell and Michelle Hill, both of St. Anthony. He also leaves his maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Don C. Dayton of Twin Groves.
Funeral Services
Funeral services were conducted Wednesday, Dec. 2, at the St. Anthony Third-Fourth Chapel with Bishop Aaron Angell of Twin Groves Ward officiating.
Family prayer was given by Don C. Dayton Jr.
Prayers were offered by Bishop Howard Dana and Bishop LeLand W. Stanford.
Speakers were Edlund D. Clark and Kenneth Hull. Carl's life history was given by Larry LeCheminant. Remarks were made by Bishop Angell.
Musical selections were "These Hands," by Harris Moon accompanied by Kathy Clark; "Lara's Theme," by Noble and Aloma Hussey and "God Be With You," by Delbert and Rama Cheney accompanied by Madge Bischoff, who also played the meditation and postlude music.
Casket bearers were Darwin, Rocky, Boyd, Stanley and Floyd LeCheminant, Calvin Dayton and Jim Sibbett.
Honorary casket bearers were the Fifth Elders Quorum of Thayne, Wyoming; Dennis Brown, Lloyd Simpson, Danney Bell, Thon Powell, Scott Hill and Steve Knapp.
The dedicatory prayer was given by Glade Sibbett before burial at the Wilford Cemetery under the direction of the Hansen Memorial Chapel of St. Anthony.
