Jimmy Martin Duncan, "J.D.", 47, of Sierra Vista, Ariz., passed away on Wednesday, March 12, 2014, at home, with his family by his side in Sierra Vista.
Jimmy was born on Wednesday, Aug. 17, 1966, in Ironton, Mo., to Winfred and Alpha Duncan.
J.D. proudly served his country, joining the U.S. Army at 17, serving in Desert Storm, and serving more than 20 years, receiving many awards and medals. He then went on to work and retire from the United States Postal Service.
J.D. loved sports and electronics. He was an Arizona Cardinals, St. Louis Cardinals, and Boston Celtics fan. He enjoyed shooting pool. He was a member of the Elks, AmVets and Masons. His greatest joy was spending time with family and friends.
J.D. is survived by his loving wife of nine years, Esther Duncan; children, James M. Duncan and Christopher J. Duncan of Fayetteville, Ark., and Ileanna J. Duncan of Sierra Vista; his mother, Alpha Bell Lee of Williamsville, Mo.; siblings, Robert (Karen) Edwards of Ellington, Mo., and Glenda (Randy) Nichols of Wynona, Mo.
He is preceded in death by his father, Winfred Leon Duncan; and sister, Charmane Politte.
Visitation will be Tuesday, March 18, 2014, from 5 to 8 p.m., at Hatfield Funeral Home. A funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be at Main Post Chapel on Wednesday, March 19, 2014, at 11:45 a.m. Interment will follow at the Southern Arizona Veterans Memorial Cemetery, with full military honors.
