He was incarcerated at the Missouri State Penitentiary for the murder of a Mississippi County MO man, when his accomplice in that murder, Claude McGee killed him in the prison yard with a claw hammer. McGee was later executed in the Missouri State Penitentiary Gas Chamber for his crimes.
