KEARNEY — Letha V. Lewis, 93, of Kearney died Sunday, March 16, 2014, at Good Samaritan Hospital.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Holy Cross Lutheran Church with the Rev. Duane Duley officiating. Burial will be at Kearney Cemetery. Horner Lieske McBride & Kuhl Funeral and Cremation Services in Kearney is in charge of arrangements.

She was born Oct. 1, 1920, in Buffalo County to H. Elmer and A. Gladys (Kincaid) Rose.

On Nov. 12, 1943, she married Orson E. Lewis in Kearney. He died Nov. 10, 1990.

On April 25, 1992, she married Ora E. Flynn in Kearney. He died Nov. 9, 1997.

Survivors include her son, Stephen Lewis and his wife, Julia, of Kearney; daughter, Sandra Karsten of Kearney; grandsons, Scott Karsten and his wife, Stormy, of Severn, Md., and Darrin Karsten of Kearney; granddaughter, Krystal Moffett and her husband, James, of Kearney; and great-grandchildren, Drew and Derek Karsten of Reinholds, Pa., and Trae and Paige Moffett of Kearney.

She was raised in rural Buffalo County and attended school in Kearney. She was a graduate of Kearney High School in 1938. While Orson served in the U.S. Air Force, Letha worked in the Travis Air Force Base Commissary from 1961 to 1966 and then in the McClellan AFB Commissary from 1974 to 1980. Following Orson's discharge from the service, they returned to Kearney where Letha worked at the Safeway store and also was a bookkeeper for the Kearney Kamper Center.

Letha was a member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church. She was a Girl Scout leader and Boy Scout den mother. She was active in the Senior Hospitality Center and served on the Governing Board for nine years, for three years on the Hospitality Committee, for one year as vice president and for one year as president.

In addition to her husbands, she was preceded in death by her sister, Arlein Kreutzer.
