Gueydan: The family and friends of Eugenie "Jane" Pego are mourning the loss of their loved one who was called from this life on March 17, 2014, at the age of 93. Jane was born in Gueydan, LA to the late George Reese, Sr. and the late Laura Moore Reese on November 4, 1920. She was a devoted member of St. Peter's Catholic Church. Jane's passion was working at the Gueydan Hospital as a nurses-aide. She loved cooking for her family and spending time with them. Jane loved working in her yard and tending to her flowers. She never met a stranger and enjoyed visiting with her friends.

Jane is survived by one son, Eugene "Pye" Pego of Groves, TX; two daughters, Carol Flores and Phyllis Pego both of Laredo, TX; her one brother Frances Reese (Helena) of Milton, LA; one sister, Helen Abshire (Black) of Gueydan, LA; 6 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild.

Jane is preceded in death by her parents, George and Laura Reese; her beloved husband, Edward Pego; two sisters, Madeline Sutton and Stella Flett; six brothers, Chester Reese, Thomas Reese, Alton Reese, George Reese, Jr., Douglas Reese and Shelton Reese.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Gueydan on Wednesday, March 19, 2014 at 1:00 PM with Father Corey Campeaux officiating. Visitation will be held at Matthews & Son Funeral Home in Gueydan on Tuesday, March 18, 2014 from 4:30 PM until 10:00 PM. A Rosary will be recited at 6:00 PM on Tuesday evening. Visitation will resume on Wednesday at 8:00 AM until the time of her funeral Mass. Burial will be follow in the Gueydan Cemetery under the direction of Matthews and Son Funeral Home.
