The family lived for a short time in Chester, Pennsylvania, before moving to their farm in Berwick in 1947. Mary Louise spent her life caring for her family.
She was a communicant and Eucharistic Minister of Our Lady of Peace Church. She was a member of the church's Women's Sodality, helping to organize the first Penny Sales. Mary Louise served as a member and president of the Parish Council and was the chair for the Social Justice and Peace commission for many years. She was a Literacy Volunteer for America. Mary Louise was a proud member of both the Charles S. Hatch American Legion Post #79 and the Women's Auxiliary, where she served as president for over 20 years. She was an early member of the Great Works Regional Land Trust, and placed her entire property under conservation easement through them.
Mary Louise experienced the loss of her husband, and a granddaughter, Amy Laviolette. She is survived by her 9 children: Mary Ellen Wright (Ronald Bickford), Nancy (Robert) Barter , Michael, Christopher, Thomas (Terri), Kathryn, and Timothy Wright, all of Berwick; Teresa Tremblay of Somersworth, NH; and Patricia (Laurent) Lagueux of Prescott Valley, AZ. She also leaves behind 14 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, and a great-great- granddaughter.
Calling hours will be Monday, December 16, from 1-3 and 6-8 at Laing-Bibber Funeral Chapel in Berwick, Maine. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Martin's church in Somersworth, NH, on Tuesday, December 17 at 10:00 AM, with internment following at Evergreen Cemetery in Berwick.
