Michel married Florence Arpin, 20 Feb 1855, at Maternity Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church, officiated by Father Lebel, at Bourbonnais, Kankakee, Illinois. The marriage was witnessed by Michel's father, Michel Levasseur and brother-in-law Alexandré Testu. Michel and Florence had six children before he died unexpectedly at the age of 37. Michel was a farmer.
His uncle Noel Levasseur, was an early fur trader, later a US Gvt Indian Agent, & 1st known settler in Kankakee county, buried in the same cemetery.
Michel's paternal 4th great grand uncle was Louis Jolliet, noted French Canadian fur trader, cartographer and early Mississippi River explorer.
