. Otis Zack Miller, Sr., 93, of Sylvester died Sunday March 16, 2014 at Tift Regional Medical Center.
The funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, March 20 at the First Baptist Church with interment to follow in the Hillcrest Cemetery with military honors. Dr. Ben Bush will officiate.
Mr. Miller was born on April 02, 1920 in Murphy, GA to the late William Lacy and Minnie Eula Moore Miller. Mr. Miller began his career in the meat processing business in 1936 while working for his brother, Cecil Miller in Murphy. He interrupted his meat processing career to serve during World War II in the United States Army from 1938 to 1946. Mr. Miller along with his brother Ivey began the Miller Brothers Sausage Company in Arlington, GA in 1946. They moved the business and their families to Sylvester when then they purchased the Worth Packing Company from Mr. R.E. Bell. He retired from Miller Brothers Packing Company on August 01, 2006. Mr. Miller and his late wife, Peggy, loved their children and took great pride in their accomplishments. He was an active Mason throughout his life. Mr. Miller was a member of Worth Lodge 194 F.& A.M. for over 50 years. He was a member of the Hasan Temple and the Grand Chapter of Royal Arch Masons of Georgia.
Survivors include sons, Otis Z. Miller, Jr. of Lawrenceville, Dan E. Miller (Pat) of Sylvester; daughters, Rita O'Quinn (Mickey) of Tifton, Doris Miller-Liebl (Fred) of Watkinsville, Peggy Clark (Mark) Portage, MI; 10 grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Miller was preceded in death by his wife Peggy Miller on May 28, 2000 and a grandson, Patrick O'Quinn.
The family will receive friends Wednesday, March 19 from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. at Banks Funeral Home.
