She was born November 8, 1939 in Richmond County, the daughter of the late Emma Rachel Outlaw and Billy Henry McDuffie.
Mrs. Parnell was a member of East Rockingham Free Will Baptist Church, where she sang in the choir for many years. She was retired from Owens Illinois.
Surviving is a daughter, Terry Cox and husband Larry of Rockingham; grandsons, Alex Cox, Patrick Brigman, and "Little" Sam Smith. She was preceded in death by her husband, Don Parnell.
Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 19 at East Rockingham Free Will Baptist Church with Rev. Johnny Johnson and Rev. Royce Honeycutt officiating. Interment will follow in Richmond Memorial Park.
