Brian W. Howard, 79, of Sanford, died on Friday, March 14, 2014 at Maine Medical Center in Portland.
Brian was born on May 30, 1934 to Winthrop and Emma Little in Lynn, Massachusetts where he grew up and attended local schools. He moved to Maine when he was a young man so that he wouldn't have to raise his family in the city. He enjoyed learning and took college classes part-time for many years. He very proud of the fact that he earned his college degree while he was in his 60's.
Brian enjoyed traveling and had taken several notable trips including going to Scotland, France and Germany. He also enjoyed keeping bees and harvesting their honey. He will be remembered as a quiet man who enjoyed spending time at home with his family.
Surviving are his life-partner, Claire Thibeault of Sanford; two children, Linda Ham and her husband David of Springvale and David Howard and his partner Denise Randall of Gray; a grandson, Michael Ham of Sanford; a brother, Paul Howard and his wife Patricia of New Hampshire; a cousin, Patricia Baker of Massachusetts one niece and two nephews.
A private graveside service will be held in the spring at St. Ignatius Cemetery in Sanford.
