Lois Ella Mae Johnson, 89, of Maddock, ND passed away Sunday, October 2, 2022 at Trinity Hospital in Minot, ND. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00AM Saturday, October 8, 2022 at North Viking Lutheran Church in Maddock with Pastor Cassie Borges officiating. Visitation will begin at 9:00 AM at the church prior to the service. Burial will be at North Viking Lutheran Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to North Viking Lutheran Church Flooring Project: P.O. Box 236 Maddock, ND 58348.
Lois Ella Mae was born December 20, 1932 in Maddock to S. Edwin and Minnie (Hovland) Anderson. She was raised and educated in Maddock, graduating from BCATS in 1950. Lois was a quiet person and did not like to take credit for anything she did. She took care of her siblings, as the middle child, and would help her parents with daily chores. Lois was united in marriage to Merelyn Allan Johnson on April 11, 1954 in Maddock and together welcomed three children: Deanna, LuJean 'Jeanie' and Mark.
Lois worked in the Maddock Café and Bowling Alley along with cooking at the Maddock Public School. She was very active in the community and would try to participate in every activity she could be in. Lois was a member of the North Viking Lutheran Church, where she was active in the Ladies Aid Circle and Ladies Quilting Group. She was also a member of the Sons of Norway and American Legion Auxiliary.
Lois enjoyed word searches, Jeopardy and loved to read. Her favorite past time was spent with those she loved, especially her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Lois will be greatly missed by all who loved her.
Lois is survived by her children, Deanna Johnson of Maddock, ND, LuJean 'Jeanie' (Pete) Deichert of Mandan, ND, and Mark (Sherri) Johnson of Casselton, ND; grandchildren, Christopher (Heather) Johnson and Adam (Kirsten) Deichert; great-grandchildren, Mason Buckhouse and Barrett Deichert; siblings, Joyce Tveito, Pete (Rita) Anderson, Roger Anderson and Gwen (Harry) Branner; numerous nieces and nephews.
