The Rev. Douglas Gray, 82, of Wedowee died Sunday, July 9, 1995, in Wedowee Hospital after an extended illness.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m.Wednesday, July 12, at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church, with the Revs. James Cavender, Steve Dempsey and Bobby Burroughs officiating. Burial will follow in the adjoining cemetery.
The Rev. Mr. Gray is survived by his wife, Mrs. Vicie Gray of Wedowee; three daughters, Mrs. Martha Nell Mount of Decatur, Mrs. Mailey Ann Langley of Wadley and Mrs. Carolyn V. Simpson of Colorado Springs, Colo.; two sons, Bobby Joe Gray of Georgetown, Ga., and Dolan Gray of Wedowee; 15 grandchildren; 17 great- grandchildren; three sisters, Mrs. Lena Holloway of Wedowee, Mrs. Dessie Bolt of Heflin
and Mrs. Rachel Cotton of Marietta, Ga.; and two brothers, Parker Gray of Anniston and Isaac Gray of Oklahoma City, Okla.
Pallbearers will be Michael Anthony Gray, Bobby Joe Gray Jr., Kenneth Fowler, Kim Ray Fowler, Johnny P. Fowler, Tommy Dolan Fowler, George Simpson and Josh Simpson.
The Rev. Mr. Gray was a native and lifelong resident of Randolph County. He was born to Thomas and Drucella Puckett Gray on Feb. 7, 1913. He was retired as a farmer and was a member of Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church.
He will lie in state at Benefield Funeral Home, Wedowee, and the family will receive friends until one hour prior to funeral services. He will lie in state at the church for one hour.
Benefield Funeral Home of Wedowee is in charge of arrangements.
