Funeral services for Mrs. Lena M. Lommen, 94, of Orland, CA formerly of Maddock, ND were conducted from the Viking Lutheran Church on Monday 1 May 1978 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Reiny Miller officiating. Interment was in the North Viking Church Cemetery.
Mrs. Lommen died recently in CA where she had been making her residence.
Lena Martha Togstad was born in Norway on 6 Dec 1883 the daughter of Andrew and Olina Togstad. She came to the United States in 1888 to Pelican Rapids, MN. A few years later, her family moved to Maddock, near the Viking Church south of Maddock. The family came by oxen cart. She attended public schools.
She was married to Peter Aanderud on 21 Jul 1904 at the Viking Church. They farmed in the area and Mr. Aanderud died in 1918. She was married to Lothard T. Lommen on 23 Jun 1926 in Montana. The couple continued to farm south of Maddock. In 1958 they retired from the farm and moved into the city of Maddock. Mr. Lommen died in Jun of 1970. Mrs. Lommen has resided in CA for the past several years.
Surviving are two sons, Stanley Aanderud of Orland, CA, Tyler Aanderud of Canton, OH; two step-sons, Arnold Lommen of Roseville, CA and Raymond Lommen of New Rockford, ND; two daughters, Mrs. David (Hazel) Williams of Oakland, CA and Mrs. Alfred (Lil) Turner of San Leandro, CA; two step-daughters, Mrs. William (Bernice) Kuehn of New Rockford and Mrs. Charles (Lucille) Proefrock of Fremont, CA; three brothers, Andrew Togstad of Bozeman, MT, Ludvig and Melvin Togstad both of Maddock; 17 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
Preceding her in death were both of her husband, her parents and two sons Norman and Ernest.
